Pumpkin pies are very easy to make, on the basis that if I can make one then anyone can.
If you have a feeling of deja-vu don't worry, this really is the website formerly known as pumpkinpie.plus.com. Now in it's third incarnation, I finally got around to registering a domain name for it (better late than never).
I started the web site after receiving an overwhelming number of requests (two !) for my Pumpkin Pie recipe at work, so I decided to publish the recipe on the web together with a selection of the worst puns I have ever read ... well we all have to start on the web somewhere !
Trust me ... I'm a DBA !!!
If, however, you want to skip the recipe and just read the puns then scroll down or click here
shortcrust pastry using 200g flour
( Oh no, you need a recipe for pastry too ? click here )
425g of pumpkin
( By popular request : UK sources for pumpkin are here plus preparation guidelines )
150g soft dark brown sugar
3 X 2.5 ml spoons ground cinnamon
1 X 2.5ml spoon salt
2 X 2.5ml spoons ground ginger
1 X 2.5ml spoon grated nutmeg
the merest hint of ground cloves
3 large eggs
250ml milk
125ml evaporated milk
Roll out the pastry on a floured surface, and use it to line a 25cm pie plate;
chill in a refrigerator. Mix the pumpkin with the sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger,
nutmeg and cloves. Beat the eggs in another bowl, add both milks and mix well.
Mix the eggs and milk into the pumpkin mixture and pour into the pastry case.
Bake in a fairly hot oven, 180°C (or Gas 5 if you're so inclined) for about
40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.
